The Role
Consulting, actuarial and analytics support to clients
Pricing and loss reserving analysis, analysis of excess surplus or profit-sharing arrangements, financial forecasting and scenario modeling, claims analyses, dashboard reporting, industry benchmarking, and other ad hoc analysis
Support to senior consulting staff on consulting mandates, including production of reports, presentations, summary analyses, client communications, etc.
Analysis and recommendations related to client strategy assessments
Client-facing support on both technical and strategic issues
Collaborate with non-actuarial subject matter experts, such as product and strategy consultants and research analysts, to support broader insights into client issues alongside core actuarial insights
Project management and oversight of day-to-day client deliverables
Identify and implement process and efficiency improvements
Coach and support the development of junior actuarial resources
Qualifications
The Requirements
More than 5 years of working experience in the actuarial field, with a preferred focus on property & casualty actuarial consulting
An Associate or "near-Associate" of a recognized actuarial professional association with a preferred focus on attaining Fellowship through property & casualty actuarial exams
Problem solving, critical thinking and ability to apply technical assets to solve complex business problems
Experience with standard actuarial pricing and/or reserving techniques
Ability to communicate results in layman’s terms, both orally and written
Applies a high standard of quality control
Works well in teams and seeks assistance / support as appropriate
Demonstrates strong listening skills
Exhibits positive attitude and demonstrates integrity in all interactions
Strong work ethic, including ability to show initiative, manage multiple priorities, honor timely client commitments and manage time efficiently and effectively
Skilled in using the Microsoft suite, most particularly with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Experience with manipulating and summarizing data using "R" or similar programming languages
Other Valuable Candidate Assets
Fluency in French
Experience with using Power Platform tools such as illustrating information on PowerBI and automating workflows on Power Automate
Experience with reserving and pricing tools like ResQ, Radar, Emblem
Past consulting and/or Affinity experience
