Telecommunications Construction General Labourer

Responsibilities:
Perform general labour tasks related to telecommunications construction, including excavation, conduit installation, and site preparation.
Use various hand tools such as sledgehammers, trenching shovels, concrete saws, and pickaxes.
Read locates and identify potential errors or conflicts in the field to prevent utility strikes.
Assist in the installation of ground-level boxes (GLBs), conduit, micro conduit, and fibre optic infrastructure.
Plan and allocate resources on job sites, supervising vacuum excavation and drilling operations as needed.
Plan and execute GLB installations, conduit tie-ins, and connections, coordinating with connection crews.
Operate and maintain a variety of equipment, including mini excavators, F550 dump trucks, cube vans, trailers, and compaction tools.
Operate equipment safely around live utilities, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols.
Assist in horizontal directional drilling operations as required.
Perform concrete cutting, forming, pouring, finishing, and restoration work.
Maintain a clean and organized worksite, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored.
Adhere to company policies and follow all health and safety procedures.
Other duties as assigned to support construction operations.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent (Required).
Valid G Driver’s License with a clean abstract (Required).
DZ/AZ License is considered an asset.
Experience in telecommunications outside plant (OSP) construction is an asset.
Ability to work outdoors and perform manual labour in all weather conditions.
Previous experience operating equipment such as mini excavators, dump trucks, and compressors is an asset.
Knowledge of horizontal directional drilling is an asset.
Strong understanding of safety procedures when working around live utilities.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
Conditions of Employment:
Successful candidates must provide a criminal background check as a condition of employment.
A clean driving abstract must be provided prior to employment.
