The opportunity

  • Drafting, elaborating, and evaluating conceptual alternatives for major elements of airport infrastructure including airfield, passenger terminal, landside access, cargo, and support areas.

  • Establishing designs and layouts for passenger terminals and airport facilities including conceptual plans, passenger flows, operational analysis, and high-level phasing.

  • Conducting spreadsheet analyses, using custom in-house or commercial software, to develop facility requirements, analyse connection flows and walking distances, and option analysis for individual airport components or systems of components.

  • Communicating and working with staff at all levels participating in project work.

  • Working with Arup’s Global Aviation Planning group and local Transportation Planning group to augment and refine custom in-house analytical tools, and/or develop new tools and methodologies.

  • CAD and graphic support for a variety of airport planning project types, including ground transport, passenger terminal and airside.

Is this role right for you?

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree or equivalent experience and professional license are further assets in Transport Planning, Architecture, or related field.

  • 3+ years’ progressively responsible experience in aviation planning, transport planning, or related field, reflecting a professional awareness of today’s aviation industry, as well as the planning, design, construction, financing, operation, and regulation of airports.

  • Knowledge of and experience delivering planning work to meet international policies, regulations, and airport planning standards (ICAO / IATA, FAA, other country-specific).

  • Some level of Project Management experience, including establishment of project scopes and budgets, managing tasks and workflows, working with clients.

  • Intermediate CAD / BIM platforms capabilities, such as AutoCAD, MicroStation or Revit.

  • Build graphics and presentation software packages, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PowerPoint.

  • Analyse data using analytical and database tools such as MS Excel, Access.

  • A commitment to technical accuracy and quality work.

  • Good interpersonal skills crucial for team-based working, often in distributed offices.

  • Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment.

  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.
