What you’ll be doing:

  • Coordinate and source promotional materials, media buys, sponsorship and external relations opportunities and memberships;

  • Provide event implementation and support for marketing and fundraising efforts, including photography/videography, ticket registration, set-up, promotional listings, exhibitions set-up, and event day programming, student activities;

  • Assist in the design and coordination of marketing and communications collateral such as print ads, direct mail brochures, newsletters, posters, presentations, digital media and any other communication and promotional materials;

  • Assist with updates to the website and social media as needed (i.e. scheduling posts, gathering resources, editing reels, etc.;

  • Engage with all departments to develop communications/publications that support and meet the School’s needs (i.e. promotional materials);

  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. Town of Whitby, Metroland, etc.) and the community, including faculty, staff, Parents’ Guild, and prospective families

  • Provide guidance to all constituencies on marketing, communications and branding to ensure clarity and consistency for internal and external communications;

  • Coordinate and manage the online store;

You have:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant administrative experience;

  • Strong knowledge of not-for-profit operations with volunteers, fundraising would be an asset;

  • Post-secondary education in special events, marketing, communications, public relations or related field, or the equivalent combined education and work experience;

  • Understanding of media relations principles and best practices;

  • Comprehension of School principles, philosophy, priorities and programs, to help develop content for a variety of publications and communications;

  • Understanding of key social media platforms and trends, and how they can be used to amplify branding;

  • Knowledge of the independent school community;

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Access, and databases (i.e: Blackbaud);

  • Familiarity with the Google Apps Suite, Google Analytics and desktop publishing software would be an asset;

  • Experience with Canva or graphic design software;

  • Experience with Canadian Press Style preferred;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills;

  • Excellent writing and editing skills across multi-media platforms; and

  • A flexible, open-minded person who is willing to brainstorm ideas, contribute new ways of thinking and open to trying new things.
