Key Responsibilities:

  • Support compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation, site-specific requirements, and company policies and procedures
  • Assist with the coordination and delivery of health and safety orientations, toolbox talks, and mandatory training programs
  • Conduct site inspections and observations to identify hazards, verify control measures, and support corrective and preventative actions
  • Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and documentation, including follow-up on corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate health and safety records, reports, and documentation in accordance with company, client, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with site supervision, workers, subcontractors, and other contractors to promote consistent and effective safety practices
  • Provide ongoing support to site management in the implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety programs

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation, construction industry best practices, and recognized hazard identification and control methodologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate with site personnel and deliver safety-related communications, including orientations, toolbox talks, and training sessions
  • Experience supporting, implementing, and maintaining health and safety programs, including worker training.
  • Proficient computer skills, including the preparation of written documentation and reports, use of cloud-based platforms (e.g., Google Drive), and submission of daily or routine project documentation
  • Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) Certification – Parts 1 and 2
  • Knowledge of the COR 2020 program through the IHSA.
  • Postsecondary education in Occupational Health and Safety is considered an asset (Certificate, Diploma, Degree, or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in construction or related industries is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems is considered an asset
