As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will be a valued member of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary healthcare team. You will provide compassionate, person-centred care by assisting residents/clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and supporting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
This role is ideal for individuals who are caring, dependable, and committed to improving quality of life for others in a healthcare or supportive living environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents/clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility
- Provide personal care and comfort measures in a respectful and dignified manner
- Support safe transfers and positioning using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Observe, report, and document changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition
- Assist with meal setup, feeding, and hydration as required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment
- Follow individualized care plans and organizational policies
- Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals
- Support residents’ independence, choice, and dignity at all times
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards
Qualifications & Requirements
- Health Care Aide (HCA) Certificate from a recognized program
- Registration or eligibility to register with the applicable provincial registry (if required)
- Current CPR / First Aid certification
- Knowledge of safe lifting, transferring, and infection prevention practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the role
- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening (as required)
