Position Overview
The School Age Educator plays a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment for children before and after school. You will support children’s development through age-appropriate activities, positive guidance, and meaningful relationships, while aligning with YMCA values and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate programs for school-age children

Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants

Foster positive relationships with children, families, and team members

Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities
-
Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development

Maintain accurate attendance and program documentation
-
Follow YMCA policies, procedures, and health & safety guidelines
-
Collaborate with fellow educators to deliver high-quality programming
Required Qualifications
-
Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Care, or a related field (or currently enrolled)

Experience working with school-age children
-
Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C
-
Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Passion for working with children and families
Preferred Qualifications
-
Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) designation
-
Experience in a licensed child care or school-age program
-
Knowledge of Ontario’s Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
