The Tertiary and Rehabilitation Mental Health Relief Team provides essential support to individuals with complex mental health needs across the Edmonton Zone. Working within the Recovery Alberta portfolio, this team delivers compassionate, recovery-focused care in inpatient, community, and rehabilitation-based environments.
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a critical role in helping patients stabilize, regain independence, and move forward with dignity and hope.

What You’ll Do
Client Care & Support

Provide direct, recovery-oriented support to individuals living with mental health challenges

Assist patients with daily living activities, coping strategies, and therapeutic routines
-
Support behavioural management plans in collaboration with clinical teams
-
Promote client safety, emotional regulation, and positive engagement
Therapeutic & Rehabilitation Activities
-
Facilitate structured programs, group activities, and skill-building sessions
-
Encourage independence, social connection, and meaningful participation
-
Reinforce therapeutic practices recommended by psychologists, nurses, and therapists
Team Collaboration
-
Work closely with nurses, mental health therapists, rehabilitation teams, and other disciplines
-
Participate in care planning, patient updates, and team huddles
-
Communicate observations, safety concerns, and client progress promptly
Documentation & Safety

Maintain accurate, timely documentation in clinical records
-
Follow all safety protocols, including crisis intervention and de-escalation procedures
-
Support a safe, trauma-informed environment for clients and staff
Qualifications
-
Completion of a Mental Health Aide, Health Care Aide, Social Services Worker, Rehabilitation Assistant, or related program preferred
-
Experience supporting individuals with mental health concerns or developmental challenges is an asset

Training or familiarity with:

Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork abilities

Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and professional under pressure

Physical ability to meet the demands of the role (mobility, escort assistance, etc.)
