About the job

As the Financial Administrative Assistant, you will:

  • perform financial transactions, such as transferring funds, preparing cheque requisitions and issuing receipts and deposit slips

  • keep databases and information systems updated with financial, employer and employee information

  • respond to inquiries from employers, field staff and other internal and external parties

  • prepare correspondence for the Manager on non-routine or contentious files

What you bring to the team Administrative and financial knowledge:

You have:

  • knowledge of financial management principles, practices and procedures.

  • knowledge of employment standards administrative processes and procedures to provide technical advice and support to regional staff, claimants, employers and third party service providers (e.g. Ministry of Finance Collections).

Communication skills:

You can:

  • communicate effectively to provide explanations and guidance to field staff, employers and employees and other external clients.

  • build effective working relationships with teammates and other partners.

  • prepare correspondence and reports.

Computer skills:

  • You have demonstrated knowledge of computer software (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe).

  • You can use formulas to perform calculations in financial spreadsheets (e.g. Excel, Access).

Other essential skills:

You can:

  • review and apply legislation and policies (e.g. Employment Standards Act).

  • coordinate workflow, prioritize work and manage competing tasks.

  • exercise tact and good judgement in responding to inquiries and issues.
