Job Requirements and Skills:

  • Completion of or currently working toward a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in public accounting.

  • Experience in assurance, accounting, and tax.

  • Solid understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles.

  • Proficiency with accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Cantax, Quickbooks, and Simply Accounting. Experience with other accounting and tax software is also considered an asset.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and highly computer literate overall.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Integrity and professionalism in a work environment.

  • Excellent leadership abilities.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.

  • Ability to work from the office, on site.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations (Notice to Readers) for small to large private and not-for-profit entities.

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve accounting issues.

  • Prepare tax returns (T1, T2 & T3), including tax and regulatory forms (T4, T5, T5018, HST, EHT, WSIB, etc.).

  • Apply knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE, ASNPO, etc.).

  • Respond to client questions and queries in a timely and professional manner.

  • Raise identified technical issues with engagement managers and partners.

  • Set up files for new clients and assist newly incorporated businesses.

  • Work with accounting software and provide support to clients.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with client management.

  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.

  • Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary will be determined based on experience level and industry standards.
