Responsibilities:.
- Plan and organize equipment transport to event
locations on time.
- Work with transport vendors or manage in-house
deliveries and pickups.
- Ensure equipment is packed safely to prevent damage
during transport.
- Create schedules for equipment delivery, setup, and
teardown with project managers and clients.
- Align logistics with project timelines to avoid delays.
- Manage the logistics budget for transportation and
storage.
- Work with finance to track logistics and transportation
costs.
- Maintain relationships with transport services,
equipment suppliers, and storage providers.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure timely delivery within
budget.
- Assess vendor performance and make necessary
adjustments.
- Ensure logistics follow local laws, safety, and
environmental guidelines.
- Manage permits, licenses, and insurance.
- Implement safety procedures for equipment handling and
transport.
- Work with venues to ensure logistics meet venue
requirements.
- Quickly address any logistical problems, like equipment
damage or delays.
- Implement backup plans for last-minute changes or
emergencies.
- Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices,
orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work
assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving
schedules.
- Reads production schedule, customer order, work order,
shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered,
or distributed.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves,
or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style,
color, or product code.
- Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to
ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
- Determines space requirements and position of shipment
in trucks and lays out position of shipment.
- Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with
shipping specifications, and seals truck doors.
- Proficient in operating both stand up and sit down
forklifts.
- Inspects material handling equipment for defects and
notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for
repair.
- Maintains accurate storage inventories and ensures
accurate information for billing to clients.
- Directs movement of shipments from shipping and
receiving platform to storage and work areas.
- Posts weight and shipping charges.
- Prepares bills of lading.
- Establishes operational procedures for activities such
as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and
disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
- Issues written and oral instructions.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve
efficiency.
- Maintains harmony among workers and resolves
grievances.
- Prepares composite reports from individual reports of
subordinates.
- Adjusts errors and complaints.
Education and/or Experience
- One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
