\ud83d\udcca Canada Added 83,000 Jobs in June \u2014 But Here\u2019s What the Headlines Didn\u2019t Say<\/p>\n

The June 2025 labour market update looked promising at first glance:<\/p>\n

\u2705 83,100 new jobs<\/p>\n

\u2705 Unemployment dropped to 6.9%<\/p>\n

But once you dig into the details, the real story is harder to celebrate.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd0d Over 84% of those jobs \u2014 roughly 70,000 \u2014 were part-time.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd0d Full-time job growth was minimal \u2014 estimated at around 10,000 or potentially flat.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd0d Public sector (government) jobs accounted for 23,000 of the total gain \u2014 and most of those were likely part-time.<\/p>\n
