Fake ones are vague.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 dir=\"ltr\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Story_The_Candidate_Who_Didnt_Know_He_Gave_Himself_Away\"><\/span>The Story: The Candidate Who Didn\u2019t Know He Gave Himself Away<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I interviewed a candidate for a sales leadership role. He was charismatic, confident, and persuasive. Almost too persuasive.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I asked:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWhat\u2019s something your team would say frustrated them about your leadership style?\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He said:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cHonestly? Probably nothing. I\u2019m very easy to work with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">That was the first red flag.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Then I asked:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cOkay \u2014 what about a former team member who didn\u2019t see eye to eye with you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He paused. His charm dropped. His tone flattened.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He said:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201c\u2026They\u2019d probably say I push too hard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Then, after another pause:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cAnd maybe that I take over too much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Another pause:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cAnd\u2026 that I don\u2019t always listen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">There it was. The collapse of performance. The emergence of truth. The behavioural pattern fully exposed.
